Jaragua National Park

Jaragua National Park (Parque Nacional Jaragua) is the largest protected area in the Dominican Republic and part of the UNESCO-recognized Biosphere Reserve of Jaragua-Bahoruco-Enriquillo. Covering over 1,300 square kilometers, the park spans pristine beaches, dry forests, cays, and wetlands.

Highlights include:

  • Bahía de las Águilas, often called one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean.

  • Laguna de Oviedo, famous for flamingos, iguanas, and mangrove ecosystems.

  • Offshore cays like Isla Beata and Isla Alto Velo.

  • Rare flora and fauna, including more than 130 bird species (some endemic).

Jaragua is a paradise for eco-tourism, birdwatching, and sustainable travel, offering a glimpse of the DR’s wild and untouched side.
