Monte Cristi

Monte Cristi is a coastal province in the northwest Dominican Republic, known for its unspoiled beaches, coral reefs, and natural landscapes. The region is famous for Cayo Arena (Paradise Island), a tiny sandbank surrounded by turquoise waters, and the Monte Cristi National Park, with its vast mangroves, salt flats, and wildlife. Another landmark is El Morro, a dramatic limestone mesa rising from the sea with panoramic coastal views. Unlike other tourist hubs, Monte Cristi remains peaceful and authentic, with a strong fishing tradition and welcoming community. The province’s capital is San Fernando de Monte Cristi, and it has an estimated population of about 110,000 residents.
