About Samaná

Samaná, located on the northeast coast of the Dominican Republic, is one of the country’s most stunning provinces, blending tropical beaches, lush mountains, and authentic Dominican culture. Known for its breathtaking landscapes and eco-adventures, Samaná has become a must-visit destination for nature lovers and explorers.

One of Samaná’s most iconic attractions is Cayo Levantado, also called Bacardi Island, a small paradise of white sands and turquoise waters. Just offshore, Samaná Bay is world-famous for whale watching between January and March, attracting visitors from around the globe to witness humpback whales in their natural habitat.

The province is also home to the majestic Los Haitises National Park, a protected area of mangroves, caves, and islets that highlight the Dominican Republic’s biodiversity. Inland, the El Limón Waterfall cascades from 40 meters into a natural pool, offering one of the country’s most memorable hiking and horseback riding adventures.

Samaná’s towns, such as Las Terrenas and Santa Bárbara de Samaná, combine Caribbean charm with modern hospitality. Las Terrenas in particular has become a hub for boutique hotels, international cuisine, and vibrant nightlife, while still offering pristine beaches like Playa Cosón and Playa Bonita.
