What Happens if a Tour Is Cancelled Due to Weather
Last updated: March 31, 2026
Weather cancellations — your rights and our process
The Dominican Republic has a beautiful tropical climate, but storms and rough seas can occasionally affect tour operations. Safety always comes first.
When we cancel for weather
- A tropical storm or hurricane is forecast in the tour area
- Seas are too rough for safe boat travel (typically winds above 25 knots)
- Heavy rainfall makes hiking or outdoor activities unsafe
- National park authorities close access to the destination
How we notify you
We monitor conditions closely for all departure dates. If a cancellation is necessary, we notify you by email and WhatsApp as early as possible — usually the evening before or early morning on tour day.
Your options after a weather cancellation
- Full refund — Complete refund to your original payment method, no fees.
- Reschedule — Choose another available date at no extra charge.
- Tour credit — Apply the full value to any other tour on our platform.
Tip: travel insurance
We recommend travel insurance covering cancellations and weather disruptions, especially if traveling during hurricane season (June–November).
